The Soundwaves 2015 Showcase Performance

soundwaves cdThe Soundwaves 2015 project culminates on Sunday 6th September in the Regional Cultural Centre, Letterkenny with showcase performances of new music created by talented young musicians from Co. Donegal. Tickets are going fast and the two performances at 6pm and repeated at 7.30pm are already booking up .

These young musicians have been working together over the summer to develop the skills of a 21st Century musician. They formed small groups to write, arrange, release and market new songs online. Five new songs were the result with accompanying YouTube videos that collectively received over 8000 views. The songs also featured in a range of leading music blogs and got radio play.

Alongside they also composed 3 new large ensemble contemporary works developing material across musical boundaries which they are now ready to premiere this Sunday. All of the music has been recorded and brought together on a CD giving the young people involved the full experience of creating and publishing new music from scratch.

Tickets for the performances this Sunday at 6pm and repeated at 7.30pm are free but limited. To book email musiceducation@donegaletb.ie confirming the number of tickets requested and the names of those attending.   Depending on demand, we may have to limit the number of tickets allocated.

Soundwaves was funded under the Music Generation/Arts Council Partnership and delivered on behalf of Donegal Music Education Partnership and led by Wall2Wall Music. The Music Generation/Arts Council Partnership enables children and young people to engage actively with high-calibre professional musicians from all genres of music.
