The Once in a Blue Moon Band is an opportunity for amateur adult musicians who hardly get the chance to play music, to join a band and contribute to the 2013 celebrations. The project is welcoming applications from across the community, from adults interested in any musical style, experienced or not and there is no need to read music.

The project starts the weekend 24 & 25 August and involves a final performance for family and friends. Wall2Wall Music will also record and publish the work of the band online.

Wall2Wall Music Artistic Director, Sarah Murphy says:

“At Wall2Wall Music we are interested in creative music making. We believe in irresistible learning and in everybody’s musical ability. Many adults used to play or sing when they were younger and others always wanted to but never had the chance. Or there have been perceived barriers to their participation such as disability, mental illness or lack of resources. The Once in a Blue Moon band gives people a chance to reconnect with their creative lives and enjoy working and performing with other adult musicians. It’s an opportunity to take the instrument down from the shelf it has been gathering dust on – if not during the City of Culture then when!”

The project has been made possible by funds from the Big Lottery Culture for All programme To apply to join the band or to for more information contact Kevin Murphy on 07779092023 or click here
