At Sixes and Sevens – play your part
To mark the 400th anniversary of the unique relationship between Derry~Londonderry and the City of London a new cantata has been commissioned from two of the world’s leading creators in words and music.
At Sixes and Sevens is written by the Pulitzer-prizewinning Northern Irish poet, Paul Muldoon, and the composer Mark Anthony Turnage. Connected to the work will be new pieces inspired by the same themes composed by young musicians from Derry~Londonderry and the City of London.
Commissioned by The Honourable The Irish Society the world premier will be given on the 3rd July 2013 simultaneously in the two Guildhalls of London and Derry~Londonderry linked live using technology. At Sixes and Sevens will be performed by Camerata Ireland, the London Symphony Orchestra, soloists, choirs and a new band made up of young musicians.
