Broken Heavens Release New Single ‘Time Travel’
Broken Heavens broke out of the Soundwaves project with soulful vocals, catchy jazzy riffs and amazing guitar parts a blazing! They’ve created the song and video for ‘Time Travel’ in just two weeks, and they are the most enthusiastic, idea filled group you could ever meet. Here we catch up with guitarist Lughán Devenny about the Broken Heavens experience so far, and what he would do with a time machine!
Who are Broken Heaven?
Broken Heavens are a band created in the Soundwaves project. That includes Lughán Devenny (me) on guitar, Catherine Gallagher on vocals, Danny McGilvery on bass, Elliot Murphy on clarinet and Amy Meehan on guitar and vocals.
You met at the Soundwaves project in Letterkenny. How has the first two weeks gone? Was it what you expected?
The first two weeks were what I expected it would be – amazingly good fun! In the first week we created a song and in the second week we made a video for that song.
You wrote this song in 3 days, after just meeting each other! Did you find it hard to gel ideas or was it an exciting opportunity to write with people you just met?
It was not an easy task but it was great fun and very creative
Your song is about Time travel, What inspired you to write about that?
Well, we were talking about the future and time travel was a particularly interesting subject, so we decided to write about that.

A time machine makes a great appearance in your video! If you had a time machine for a day, what would you do with it?
I honestly don’t know I assume I’ll go into the future
In your video you use the time machine to get away from a bad day in school. Any advice for people who hate school out there?
Stick with it, it’s worth it.
How does it feel to see your song have a video and be released so quickly after writing it? What’s been your favourite part of the process?
For me the video was the best part because all week I had loads of ideas for the video and coming up with the plot was lots of fun
What’s next for Broken Heaven and its band members?
I guess we’ll cross that bridge when we come to it, but for now we’re enjoying adventures with Broken Heavens
